What this page can see

Choosing a photograph here hands it to the browser, not to us. It is decoded into memory in the tab you are looking at, the arithmetic runs there, and the file you save is written from that memory straight to your disk. There is no upload step, no processing queue and no copy anywhere, because there is nothing on the other end of this domain that could hold one — the site is a set of static files, with no server-side code and no way to add any.

Close the tab and the photograph is gone from the page as completely as if you had never opened it. Nothing is written to browser storage either: no history of what you opened, no cached result, no saved settings.

Open your browser’s developer tools before you choose a file, switch to the network panel, and then use the tool normally. You will see the page, its stylesheet, its JavaScript and its fonts load, and then nothing further — no request carrying image data, because there is no code here that could make one. This is checkable in about thirty seconds and it is worth more than any sentence on this page.

This site is built to carry Google AdSense, and that is how it is meant to pay for itself. Advertising is not yet running here: the domain has not been approved, the switch in the code that draws a unit is off, and no page on this site loads an advertising script today. The network panel above will show you the same thing.

When it does start, AdSense runs its own script in your browser and sees the ordinary things any embedded third-party script sees: the address of the page, your rough location from your network address, your browser and screen, and whatever it has already put in its own cookies. It will not see a photograph you open. The picture exists only as pixel data inside this page and is handed to nothing else, and that stays true whether or not there is an advertisement further down the page.

What Google does with what it collects is governed by its policies rather than ours. Your controls over it sit in your Google account’s advertising settings and in your browser’s cookie settings.

Nothing, at present. No measurement script is loaded by any page here: the beacon in this build has no property token, so the tag that would fetch it is never rendered, and no visit, address or referrer is recorded by anything belonging to this site. There is no visitor counter to describe and no figure anyone here can look up.

If that changes it will be Cloudflare Web Analytics, which needs no cookie and sets no identifier, and this section will be rewritten in the present tense on the day it is switched on. Fonts are served from this domain rather than a font host, so there is no third-party request on any page as it stands.

If any of this changes, the change will be on this page. There is no mailing list to be removed from and no account to delete, because neither exists. Questions about how the page works are best answered by reading it: the whole thing is static files served to your browser, and what you can see is all of it.
